Beware of imposters. I will never ask you for payment for promotion.
This is not an easy post to write, but I’m hoping that by having it front-and centre any further harm will be prevented. I’m Tamsien, founder of Babbling Books. I’ve been reviewing books and sharing my love of reading for more than 10 years online and throughout 2026 I’ve been the victim of identity theft. A very persistant scammer (or group of scammers) has been impersonating me and sending out pitches to authors for “editorial feature ideas”.
So far I have been in contact with 6 authors who have been approached, but I suspect there are many more.
To be compltely clear, I no longer accept review requests from publishers or individual authors. I do not participate in paid promotions or publicity campaigns on the Babbling Books social media profiles or website. I will never ask you for payment.
My email address for Babbling Books is hello@babblingbooks.com.au or you can reach out via the contact form on this website, or via DM on Instagram @babblingbooks if you suspect you have been contacted by someone impersonating me.
Some of the fake email addresses I am aware of the scammers using are:
westtamsien @gmail.com
babblingbooks0 @gmail.com
DO NOT REPLY to emails from these addresses. They are likely using other emails as well, so please be vigilant.
